One of the best bits of advice I was given as an aspiring artist was to “paint for yourself”… and that’s stuck with me. I walk the cities, coasts, mountains and countryside and paint whatever catches my eye.

This year my main focus is on Harris and the Western Isles, and sometimes it’s a realistic image and sometimes it’s more abstract. Plus more paintings of some of my favourite areas, including Pittenweem, the Cairngorms and Majorca

Our venue continues to be one of the most attractive. The four artists from last year are returning. John Scott, the Newcastle potter, Jill Macleod, the Edinburgh-based landscape painter, who was the Pittenweem Festival bursary winner in 2016, Mark Holden, the Fife landscape painter; and Thomas Cameron, the Helensburgh painter and 2014 Pittenweem Festival bursary winner.
